The USRBC held a special briefing on Russia economic growth prospects in 2017 with Chris Weafer
, Managing Partner of Macro-Advisory Ltd., in the offices of Debevoise & Plimpton in New York City. Mr. Weafer discussed the possible drivers for growth as Russia emerges from the recession and the areas where more robust growth may be possible. He also examined economic reform efforts and how next year's presidential elections in Russia may influence economic policymaking.
Chris Weafer is Managing Partner of Macro-Advisory Ltd and has worked in Russia and the CIS region for nearly 20 years. Before leaving to co-found Macro-Advisory in late 2013, he was Chief Strategist at Sberbank-CIB, Russia's largest bank and one of the biggest banks in Europe. He was also Chief Strategist with Uralsib Financial Corporation for four years and with Alfa Bank for five years, two of Russia's largest privately-owned financial groups. His first role in Russia was as Head of Research with Troika Dialog, a privately-owned investment bank, from 1998 to 2002.
