The U.S.-Russia Business Council (USRBC) and the Association of Regional Banks of Russia (ASROS) hosted a half-day conference on "Current and Prospective Trends in Banking in Russia and Abroad" at the World Bank's offices in Moscow at 36/1 Bolshaya Molchanovka.
According to a recent study on global banking trends by EY, "In an era of low growth, the most successful banks will be those that master transformation. Banks must reinvent themselves, not just to respond to today's pressures, but to be able to adapt to tomorrow's challenges." The conference's half day program featured leading industry experts, including a keynote by EY's Stuart Lawson , Executive Director and Head of the UK Banking Centre and EY's Senior Advisor for Financial Institutions and Government Initiatives in Russia and the CIS and the World Bank's Rolf Berndt , Regional Finance and Market Manager for Europe, Middle East and North Africa. The event also examined banking developments in Russia, with presentations by ASROS President and Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Economic Policy, Innovative Development and Entrepreneurship Anatoly Aksakov , Dentons' Head of Russian Banking and Finance, Timothy Stubbs , Acting Director of the Russian Central Bank's Department of Bank Regulation, Alexander Zhdanov , and JSC Bank Assotsiatsiya Vice Chairman, Oleg Mitropolskiy .
